Professional guide

The tour actually started during our drive, as our guide spoke about Auschwitz’s history then. Learning about its construction from army barracks and its first Polish prisoners was a good introduction to the actual guided tour. Very harrowing subject, but I greatly appreciated the guide’s strength as she told us these sad stories.

Our guide answered all of our questions

Our guide gave a complete history of the site, didn’t shy away from difficult topics, and answered all our questions. Plus, she made the extra time to visit the Auschwitz Birkenau Museum - something I very much appreciate.

DESCRIPTION

Auschwitz Private Tour

Start your visit to Auschwitz with your guide picking you up in a comfortable, private car. They can come to any hotel in Kraków, so just let us know where, and we’ll come to you.

LEARN ABOUT AUSCHWITZ’S HISTORY DURING YOUR DRIVE

As you drive toward Auschwitz, your guide will give a brief historical introduction. Learn about how army barracks were turned into a Nazi concentration camp, and how political detainees (mostly Poles) were transported there - and how they were treated by the German Schutzstaffel (SS) officers. Use the private setting to ask any particular questions that interest you.

WALK AROUND AUSCHWITZ I - THE MAIN CAMP

Your visit to Auschwitz begins with exploring the Stammlager - the site’s main camp and administrative center. Auschwitz is split up into sub-camps, of which Auschwitz I Camp was the center. Your tour guide will show you all the main sites, including watchtowers, residential barracks, and the camp’s first crematorium, with 19 gas chambers inside. You’ll also see the infamous Arbeit macht frei sign as you enter, meaning Work makes you free.

VISIT AUSCHWITZ II BIRKENAU - AN EXTERMINATION CAMP

You can add the lunch option to your booking. Afterward, your guide will take you to Auschwitz II Birkenau camp - the main extermination center. Here, you’ll see the remaining four crematoria, where about 1,000 prisoners perished daily. Your guide will also point out more prisoners’ barracks, where each individual had a mere 1 m2 (11 sq ft) to themselves. Inside, you’ll see photos, documents, and personal belongings such as photos and letters - a poignant reminder of the site’s history.

REFLECT ON YOUR TOUR ON THE DRIVE BACK

Once the tour is done, your private guide will drive you back to your hotel. While traveling, remember what you saw during your visit, and reflect on the site’s moving history.

Auschwitz Private Tour

Do you know what Auschwitz prisoners' living conditions were like?

There was almost no privacy. The Auschwitz residential barracks were originally intended for about 700 prisoners but at times held 1,200 inmates. In Auschwitz II Birkenau, there were brick and wooden barracks, but both lacked basic sanitary facilities, lights, heating, and water. In addition, there was frequently high humidity in the barracks, attracting lice and mice.

Yes. You can bring both food and drink into Auschwitz, and you will also find a cafe in the parking lot and vending machines dotted throughout the site. You can always purchase snacks there.

Are there toilets at Auschwitz?

Is there any other important historical landmark around Auschwitz?

Yes, there are two places that many visitors often connect with their Auschwitz experience. The first is in Krakow and pairs especially well with a private Auschwitz tour, offering a different perspective on the Jewish experience during WWII. The Schindler’s Factory Tour tells the story of one man who saved over 1,000 lives – a powerful example of courage and humanity. The second is the Wieliczka Salt Mine, an underground world of tunnels, chapels, and history. With the Auschwitz and Salt Mine Tour, you can explore both in one well-organized day.

Can we do Auschwitz from Prague in one day?

Yes, you can, safely and comfortably. Among our Auschwitz tours, we also offer tours from Prague to Auschwitz, which include round-trip transport, skip-the-line access, and a professional guide at the memorial site. It’s one of the best ways to visit Auschwitz from outside Poland, without worrying about planning or logistics.

How much time should I set aside for visiting Auschwitz?

Visiting the Auschwitz is not something to rush — it’s best to set aside a full day for the experience. This is a place of deep historical importance, reflection, and respect, and it deserves your full attention. Many visitors choose one of our organized tours, which take care of all logistics so you can focus on the visit itself. The Auschwitz Tour from Krakow and the Wroclaw to Auschwitz Tour are efficient and well-structured options. If you're flying into Katowice, the Auschwitz Tour from Katowice is very convenient, just about an hour from the camp. And from further away, the Warsaw to Auschwitz Tour includes early departure and return, making it possible to visit in one day, without returning exhausted from hours of driving in both directions.
