Tour organized in small group which was great

I enjoyed the small group size on this Auschwitz tour from Wroclaw. Being in a smaller group made it easier for me to ask questions and the whole tour felt more personal. Our guide, Erik, was fantastic! Walking through the "Arbeit Macht Frei" gate and seeing the living conditions the victims had to live in helped me connect with history on a deeper level. A really meaningful tour I’d recommend to anyone.

A very emotional experience

The Auschwitz tour from Wroclaw is so important for remembering the history and those who suffered. An image that’ll be hard to get off my mind is the pile of victim’s hair in Block 4, it really puts into perspective the tragedy that happened here. It was also very saddening to see the photographs displayed as they showed the struggles those poor people had to go through. Also, we stayed in Wroclaw so we were very glad that this tour offered round-trip transportation - it made the whole experience less stressful.

Auschwitz Tour from Wroclaw

Did you know a person volunteered to go to Auschwitz?

One of the most remarkable stories about Auschwitz is the one about Witold Pilecki. He was a Polish resistance fighter who deliberately got himself arrested during a Nazi round-up in Warsaw and was sent to Auschwitz under a false identity. He did this on a brave mission to gather intel on the camps’ operations and organize resistance from the inside.

While inside, he secretly wrote reports on the exterminations, brutal treatments, and inhumane living conditions. He spent over three years on the inside smuggling information through resistance networks. However, he soon realized that an outside liberation might not come soon enough, so he escaped in 1943. He continued to fight for Poland’s independence even after the war however, he was arrested and executed by the Soviet-backed government in 1948, just a few years after he survived Auschwitz. Today, he is remembered as a hero and a symbol of resistance.

His story is often mentioned alongside that of Oskar Schindler: while Schindler used his factory to protect over a thousand Jews from deportation, Pilecki infiltrated Auschwitz to expose its horrors from within. Both men took immense personal risks to stand against Nazi atrocities. If you're visiting Krakow, the Schindler’s Factory Tour offers a meaningful insight into that legacy.
